I'm thinking about Valentine's Day and how important Steve is to me, as I am to him. We want to grow much older together, and that means taking good care of ourselves while still enjoying our life. For Valentine's Day, I'm treating him to brunch at Spinner's, a café at the Waianae Marina. They make fabulously decadent breakfasts that appeal to local Hawaiians, including many of the things I cannot eat. However, now I can manage eating out without giving myself over to temptation, so I will do alright. We've taken ourselves out to eat several times this week. On Friday we went to the lovely restaurant just behind our house. I had artichoke dip, coconut shrimp, and chicken curry. Then, on Saturday night, we met our son and his husband at our favorite Korean barbeque restaurant. This place offers many meat selections and fresh salads, accompanied by bowls of rice which I ignore. So, even with all the eating out, I'm managing to remain on keto. Of course, the more weight I lose, the more wrinkly I look, but I'm still Steve's Valentine. By the way, he's still my Valentine too, and he's not getting any younger either. We love each other very much and totally enjoy hanging out together. We are fortunate that both of us have our health and enjoy an excellent quality of life. We're hoping to continue living well for many more years, and that depends upon our physical well-being. It's so easy to take things for granted, and we're trying not to do that. I walk along beautiful Po'Kai Bay every morning while Steve works on his dissertation. We both belong to 24 Hour Fitness in Kapolei and exercise there daily. I'm so grateful that I am mobile enough to swim, fast walk, and weightlift. Even though I sometimes complain about feeling too tired to complete my workout, I've kept myself going and will continue to do so as long as I am able. To reach my goal weight, which is the top end of the recommendation for my age and height, I still need to lose more than twenty pounds. While I continue losing, it is in very slow increments, and I think it will be at least another year before I get rid of all the excess weight. However, I'm not discouraged. The keto lifestyle works for me, and I intend to keep at it, probably for the rest of my life.
