We had another lovely weekend. Saturday, we spent the day with our friends from White Rock, and they treated us to a lovely time. First, they introduced us to a new Indian restaurant called Spice Republic. The food was excellent in general, but in particular, they had a lovely box luncheon providing tastes of ten separate menu items, which gave us an idea of everything they offer. We totally enjoyed the meal and the company. Next, we went on a tour of a lovely botanical space called Sendell Gardens. The plants that thrive in BC and our area were abundant and lovely. They also had a tropical plant hot house that contained many plants that thrive in Hawaii and Houston. It appeared that several weddings were taking place, and the Garden was perfect for their event, as was the weather. There were two East Indian brides. One was in bright red, and her husband had a matching turban. The other wore a lovely off-white gown covered with beads and sequins. Each had a wedding party dressed to the nines Indian style. We tried not to intrude but watched from a distance. Throughout the week, I did some research on monitoring calories. My keto diet limits me to between twenty and fifty grams of carbs daily and suggests a 2000-calorie-per-day diet. That doesn't work for me. To lose weight, even with the support of semaglutide, I must stay below 1200 calories per day. According to my current research, some people go on a fast keto program. They stay between 800–900 calories daily with the same carb limits and at least fifty grams of protein. I've not tried this, so I don't know if it would work for me. Generally speaking, strict calorie counting on keto is unnecessary because ketosis, which results from eating very few carbohydrates, teaches your body to burn fat faster. Also, the food items used for the keto diet are satiating, leading to decreased hunger. Regarding my calorie burn, research shows that a moderately active 5'6" and 135-pound woman needs 1,900 calories daily to maintain her current weight. At my age, I need fewer calories, even with consistent exercise. Even though I don't count calories, I feel good about my daily calorie consumption. I'm successfully losing pounds doing what I do, so I'll continue along this path.
